Top 4 Murakami Books : You Must Read in your Life-time

Why To Read Murakami's Book ?

In my opinion, there are several factors that make Haruki Murakami the most attractive writer for a certain category of readers, not all of the book readers.

First of all, he knows how to create a magical atmosphere that allows readers to immerse themselves in the story and forget everything around them. Then Murakami's actions are very interesting and understandable. There are not so many actors and those historical La flowing, it gradually brings Surprises again and again. This "flow of light" is the result of very careful and in-depth work and extensive writing experience.

Another feature is that Murakami represents Japan for Western readers. This is magical and real Japan, but very suitable for Western readers.

Like all writers, Haruki Murakami's books do not have the same standards, but the overall quality is high. But in my opinion, Murakami is not for everyone, whether you like it or hate it.

As a disclaimer, this list doesn't contain the very popular names like kafta, Norwegian  woods etc but as name "Murakami" all listed books are worth reading.

1. Men Without Women (2017)

Murakami artfully outlines the world of men in which they are both fragile and lost, so insignificant. His people do not rule the world, nor do they fantasize about it. More importantly, as the name suggests, they are no females in the male protagonists life . Of course there are many women in the book as companions, lovers, criminals or just listeners, but the 7 stories about men themselves are told from a male perspective.

My favourite quote- "You are a pastel - coloured Persian carpet, and loneliness is a Bordeaux stain that won't come out."

2. First Person Singular (2020)

The eight stories in this latest book are told in person by the classic storyteller Murakami. From young memories, thinking about music and passion for baseball, to stunning scenes and fictional jazz albums-these stories push boundaries, Between our thoughts and the outside world. Strange philosophical mystery story in the first person, wonderfully touching love and loneliness, childhood and memory, All have Murakami's unique pen magic.

My Favourite Quote - "Falling in Love is like having a Mental illness that health insurance won't pay for"

3.Birthday Girl (2002)

"Birthday Girl" is a tantalizing and extremely satisfying taste of a superb story published to celebrate Takashi Murakami's 70th birthday. if you are 20 year girl and on your birthday you are asked to wish a dream to be granted , what it would be? well this very short story revolves to resolve this question.

4.Blind willow Sleeping Woman (2000)

Twenty-four collections of short stories gorgeously showcase Murakami's craftsmanship. From surreal to ordinary, these stories demonstrate their ability to change the full range of human experience in exciting, surprising, and endlessly fascinating ways. There are lively crows, criminal monkeys, and ice cream people, but there are also dreams and desires that shape ours, whether it is an accidental encounter in Italy, a romantic exile in Greece, a holiday in Hawaii or in daily life. Haruki Murakami’s characters face painful loss, sexual desire, the glow of fireflies, or the incredible distance between people who should be closest.

Favorite Quote “I may be the type who manages to grab all the pointless things in life but lets the really important things slip away.”
